Kay got the cake from him and set it on the table, "You better be glad she knows how to be a child. Honestly! I bake a stupid cake for a sample treat and she can't have even one bite of it because it might have flour in it!" She barked, "No, I don't use flour to bake my cakes, Arron!" She walked over and started to check on Katey, "Do you want some juice, Katey? There's no flour in it so your brother can't say no." She glared at him briefly.

Arron kept his mouth shut. He wanted to say that he was planing on letting her have the cake when he found out it didn't have flour in it. But he had been trying to stay out of fights with Kay so didn't.
"Yeah. Sure." Katey said.
Arron frowned and walked back over to her, and put a hand on her forehead again. Her temperature was rising no doubt about it.
"Katey, what did you eat today?"
"Umm.... I don't remember."
"Anything? What about that sandwich I made you?"
"Probably..." She said looking at her feet.
"Katey your suposed to tell me if your not eating." Arron frowned at her.
"Well... I'm eating cake right? So I'm about to eat..." She didn't look up.
Arron sighed. "Yeah... I guess so. But that's really not enough..."

Kay walked to the sink and wet down a cool washcloth, dabbing it at her face gently.
"Katey, are you feeling sick?"

"Not really...." She said quietly.
"Katey I need you to tell me whats wrong."
"I'm just not feeling hungry today thats all."
"And?"
"My..... Throat hurts a little...."
"And?"
"And.... My head hurts...."
"Allot?"
"Yeah..." She nodded slightly.
"I'm kind of tired too...."
Arron sighed. "Kay can we postpone the cake? I think I at least need to have the doctors check her. Even a cold could be dangerous, because she has a really week immune system as it is."

"Arron, you are so stupid! You honestly think I'd still give her cake when she looks that sick?!" Kay sounded frustrated, "I work at an orphanage, I know how to handle kids." She turned back to Katey, "Sweetie...we're going to take you to the doctor okay?"

Arron frowned, of corse he didn't. He was just trying to be polite in declining her offer till another day. He sighed he didn't understand how to talk to people at all. He was pulled back from his thoughts by his sister.
"I don't want to!" She said frowning. "Hospitals are bad. They're borring and dark at night. And sometimes they won't let anyone in but the doctors, and they all smell like soap and disinfectant spray."
"But Katey we need to make sure your safe."
"What if I don't like being safe? What if it scares me?!" She started to cry.
Arron picked her up and hugged her, he found that she was getting taller.
"Katey... I know it's hard.... I was in there once too remember? I told you about it. But you'll get to come home eventually so it'll be okay right?"
"But... If I have to stay at the hospital mommy and daddy will take me to the other home! I don't want to go away again yet."
Arron looked at Kay for help, though he knew this part was true. If his parents thought for even a second that she had gotten sick there, she wouldn't be allowed back for months. Maybe even a year. She might not even be able to come to the wedding unless they moved it.

Kay smiled weakly, "We'll find a house in the mountains then." She stated quickly, "A big house! Where it's not far away and we can all be a big family there!"

"Landon will visit all the time, he loves going to the mountains." Kay told her joyfully.

"Well... Then thats alright I guess...." She said still looking upset. "But I won't see Bradly as much. Cause he comes here when his parents go away."

"If he comes to stay with Landon then Landon will come to the mountains and bring Bradly too." Kay assured her.

Katey leaned her head against her brothers shoulder.
"I'm too tired to argue now anyway.... But it's alright then... I still don't want to go though..." She said and fell asleep, barely finishing the last word of her sentence before she was no longer able to speak.
"I guess we're walking..." Arron sighed. "It's not too far. Are you coming?" He asked Kay, heading for the door.

Arron walked side by side with Kay, without a word. Katey didn't make a sound, her breathing was so shallow he thought it stopped once. They reached the hospital and he had to wake her up. She was bearly able to stay contious enough for the doctors to talk to her. Arron and Kay were ushered to a waiting room.
"This shouldn't take long." The nurse assured them.
Arron stared at the door. He sighed. He should have been used to this by now, but he wasn't. He looked at Kay.

A doctor named Paul -whom Arron was good friends with- came in.
"She has strep. A rather horrible case I might add. She fell asleep as soon as we let her all one for a minuet. Anyway, she'll have to stay here for a while. Also we don't want allot of human contact... Because it is contagious. And her immune system will be even more fragile than usual while it fights the deasiese."
Arron frowned, he still had an arm around Kay.
"We can go see her though right?"
"Yes... But it's not recommended..." The doctor frowned. "Arron... Between you and me, I think it would be better if you did. She was scared to death that she would have to stay by herself. I'll make sure personally that you won't get sick. I don't know about your girlfriend-"
Arron interrupted him there. "Fiancee"
"Oh? OH! Really? Thats wonderful why didn't you tell me?!"
"I hadn't gotten around to it is all.... Anyway she'll want to come in too I'm sure. But she can speak for herself." He smiled a bit at this.

Kay frowned, "I can for a second, but I'm getting over cancer, I'm a bit weak right now..." She said tiredly.

"That is probably not a good idea." Said Paul.
Arron frowned. "Yeah...." He looked confused, he had been trying not to get in trouble saying she couldn't but now he wanted too. If even she thought it was a bad idea he didn't want her anywhere near that room. He opened his mouth to say so, but then shut it again.
"Problem?" Asked Paul.
Arron sighed and shook his head. Squeezing Kay a little.
"Wow.... How on earth did you get him to do that?!" Asked Paul laughing. "I've been trying to teach him how to bite his tung sense forever. But he just couldn't do it. Kept chasing away all the girls I set up for him!"
"Which I might add I didn't want you to do." Arron frowned.

Arron sighed with realif, and Paul laughed.
"Not reveling any secrets huh? Okay I'll tell the kid when she wakes up. Then Arron can deal with her crying."
"Thanks." Arron said shaking his head at Paul.
"Anyway how are things with Caren?"
"Well enough. She's got her hands full with the terrible two's. Though for us... That's two sets of twins instead of an age." He laughed, Arron just shook his head again.
"What? I thought it was funny... Anyway. Tom, and Terence are fighting half the time, and Carren and Steven are crawling now.
"What?! Already? It hasn't been that long."
"Yeah it has. You've not talked to me sense your sister was last in here."
"I supose so... Oh, I got a cell phone." He pulled it out of his pocket. "The number is...." He paused to look it up. "(insert random phone number here)"
"Okay. Cool." Paul said pulling a note book out of one of the large pockets on his coat, and writing it down. "We should get together some time."
"Sure. We're moving someplace near my parents soon though."
"Oh?"

Kay nodded from her seat, "Mostly for the health of Katey, we don't want her to be sick." She replied to them, knowing they'd walk off soon. She wished she could go see the little girl too.
