A little life (wooow)

[Lumina]

Kay got on her knees and began tearing open a box in her new apartment. It was ten minutes before noon and she had a lot to do before her lunch date. She was simply positive that she'd be getting engaged that day, little did she know that it wasn't what she thought...

"We need to talk about something important, Kay." Robin said as he took a bite of his sandwich.

Eager and blissful, Kay Walker leaned forward with sparkling eyes, "Fire away, Robby."

He didn't seem so eager. Taking her hands gently he sighed, "I don't think this is working out."

Just like that everything crashed around her, all color drained from her face.

She walked home that afternoon crying, angry and not caring who she bumped into or who she snarled at. This was by farthest the worst day of her life.

Arron looked at his sister who was hanging on the lowest branch of a tree at the park with her legs. She had bright green eyes, that seamed to glow in the sunlight. Her hair was brown, with flecks of gold, and copper. She smiled when she saw him looking at her.
"Hey!" She called waiving at him.
She dropped down, flipping to land on her feet. She bowed to him, making him laugh a bit. She tilted her head to the side and smiled again. She was missing her two front teeth, she started to run back twords the swings but he stopped her.
"Common Katey. It's time to head home. We don't want you getting yourself sick again."
"But Arron!" She pouted. "I want to stay longer..."
"Katey, we've been here for hours now."
"So?"
"So, do you want to go to the hospital again? And have to go home?"
She frowned at him. "No."
"Good than come on. Lets go."
She sighed and grabbed his hand.
"Okay, but you have to read to me!"
"Okay. When we get home." He said laughing again.
"YAY!"
They headed down the street.

Kay sat on a bench with her head in her hands crying, long flowing red hair draped gracefully over her quivering shoulders. She felt so rejected and alone now thanks to Robin. Looking up only briefly she wished she could see him standing there ready to apologize and have changed his mind, but instead she saw him drive by with someone else in his car.

So there was someone else? This made her even more sick. Jumping off the bench she walked around the corner and into a donut shop. She bought a big box of sugar coated and glazed donuts - also known as comfort food.

She was so angry as she pushed past a few people in a futile attempt to get home faster.

Katey skipping along by her brothers side talking about what happened in school a week ago fell as someone plowed through with a box of doughnuts, crying. Arron glared at the girl, and helped his sister up.
"Katey are you okay?" He asked her brushing her off and checking her arms and legs. One hand was bleeding, and her knee had a small scrape on it.
"Yeah..." She sniffed a bit.
"Some people. Why doesn't she watch where she's going?!"
"She was sad..." Said Katey.
"Thats not a reason to run into people randomly." He said picking up his sister and putting her on his shoulders. "I'll carry you the rest of the way home... Mom and dad'll kill me if you get sick while your here."

Kay turned around, "I'm so sorry! I really didn't mean to do that." She looked really distraught, eyes puffy with tears running down her cheeks. She opened the box of donuts in attempt to offer one to the little girl.
"I'm s-sorry."

"Oh... I'm-" Katey started but Aron interrupted her.
"She's allergic to that! You shouldn't go randomly handing food to children even if you knocked them down. You could kill them!"
"Aron! She's sorry, look she sad! You should be nice to her!" Katey patted her head, which she could do only because she was on her brothers shoulders.
"It's okay it was an... Acc... Acci.... wasn't on purpose."
She finally said after trying several times to remember the word she wanted.

Kay stepped back. She wasn't trying to be mean, as a matter of fact she was a very generous person. The shirt she was wearing had a cross on the back and had an orphanage label on it. It was where she worked.

"I...I didn't know." Feeling as though she was stabbed she smiled at the little girl, "Here..." She put her box down and pulled a bandaid out of her pocket, placing it gently over the cut. "Feel better soon."

Katey smiled at her.
"Thanks!" She said.
"Of coarse you didn't that's why you shouldn't randomly give people food." Grumbled Arron.
Though he was having trouble staying mad. This girl was pretty, even if she was a bit annoying, and his sister liked her. Other than pushing people when she was mad, she seamed okay.
"Anyway.... You should be more careful..." He added, though it was obvious his heart was no longer in the scolding.

Kay stepped back again, "I'm sorry, a good portion of the children I take care of at the orphanage aren't allergic to donuts, maybe it's an uncommon thing to be allergic to pastry dough? I don't know, I was just trying to be nice." Feeling that familiar sharp ache in her chest she turned around and walked away sobbing.

I hate men, they are all the same. She thought, dropping the box as she walked, she didn't care, she just kept going.

Katey whacked her brother on the head.
"Stupid Arron! She's sad! Go give her her doughnuts back!"
Arron frowned. "Ouch your not aloud to hit."
"I don't care! Get the doughnuts back to her now."
"Katey-"
"Now!" She said looking about ready to cry.
"Okay okay, calm down you'll make yourself sick." he said walking and picking up the box, then heading after Kay.

Kay stopped in her tracks unable to stand up much longer. She fell to the ground with a sickening thud, unconscious on impact. She had a small cut from the fall though know one could figure out why she fainted.

She'd been close to her apartment building when her landlord saw it happen. He ran out with his cell phone and prepared to call 911 while he checked her pulse.

Arron saw her colapce, and set his sister on the ground so he could move faster.
"Follow me close as you can, and don't move out of sight." He said handing her the box.*
"Okay...." She said, he ran the few feet left to Kay.
"Do you know this girl?" He asked the man dropping to his knees, and felt her forehead.
He was used to these things from taking care of his sister.

OOC: And after he had just scolded Kay for offering her one! XD Just kidding, he knows she wouldn't eat them. But still! Giving her a box of them like that! XD

[Lumina]

"I'm her landlord but I'm her cousin first and foremost. We talked this morning and she was going to see her boyfriend, she was fine then." The young man said.

The ambulance arrived and turned her over, she was getting cold. There was a ruckus of people around all wondering what happened. She started to open her eyes but had a lot of trouble.

"Kay, stay with us! How many fingers am I holding up?"

She couldn't respond. Her eyes closed again after she caught a glimpse of the boy who'd yelled at her. She fell limp while the paramedics were loading her up on a stretcher.

"What hospital are they takeing her too? Is she going to die?" Asked Katey, starting to cry.
Arron picked her up, and bounced her lightly.
"I don't know Katey..." He said looking at the man for help. "Do you know if she has a history of fainting like that?" He looked back at his sister, still bouncing at his hip. "Gosh... Don't cry Katey. I'll take you to check on her okay?"

[Lumina]

"Dian Springs Medical center." He said to begin with then continued, "And the only time I witnessed her faint like that was when she was ten, she had cancer. I really hope that's not the case now."

The ambulance drove off with the sirens blaring through the air, bringing it to everyones attention that someone needed help and fast.

[PrincessUnique]

"Oh.... That's where my sister goes for check ups while she's here." He said "Isn't that good Katey, I know where the hospital is. Don't cry okay?... Cancer?" Katey nodded, and sniffled, she rubbed her eyes on her sleeve. "Okay! I'll go get my things!" She said jumping from his arms and running inside. He looked up. "Hey don't- Oh... This is my apartment building." He blinked he hadn't realized that they had been coming twords it. Usually they came in through the back entrance, because he found it was a faster way to get to the house.

[Lumina]

The landlord smiled, "Yeah, I haven't seen you since I gave you the keys to the apartment." He laughed, "Anyway, I need to make a few phone calls about Kay, and then I need to drive down...I really hope she's okay." He looked solemn as he entered the building.

[PrincessUnique]

"Okay.... I should go make sure my sister isn't getting herself into trouble... It was nice seeing you again." He said, and headed for the apartments.

[Lumina]

Balloons and flowers filled Kay's hospital room, lots of teddy bears and gifts from people she worked with and family surrounded her. She opened her eyes after being asleep for nearly a day. She couldn't remember what happened but it wasn't good. She could remember that she was dumped the day before and that some stranger got in her face for being nice. She furrowed her brows and groaned in frustration.

Oh yeah...I fainted after... She began to think but couldn't keep going. She was exhausted.

Katey was looking at her brother.
"Can we visit now?"
"No. Not until somone tells us we can."
"Can we visit now?"
"Not yet Katey."
This had been going on for at least an hour.
"How about now?"
"No."
"Now?!"
"No."
He sighed.
"She's going to think we're crazy, coming to see her when we don't even actually know each other."
"Now?"
"No."

[Lumina]

"You came to visit Kay DeRoux?" A nurse asked, "They are allowing visitors now, she's in room 213. down the hall."

"YAY!" Said Katey who hated to wait.
"Shh...." Her brother frowned at her. "Thanks." He said to the nurse. "Come on Katey."
He stood up and took her hand.

[Lumina]

The nurse opened the door for them and walked away.

Kay was hooked up to wires monitoring her heart. She looked so young and fragile laying there in that big bed. It was almost sad to see it, like she didn't belong in that place.

"Miss. Kay person! Are you okay?!" Asked Katey in a quiet exclamation.
Arron shook his head at the child, with a sigh. He had tried so hard to get her to say Miss. DeRoux, especially sense they didn't really know this girl.
"You feignted on the ground! And it was sad! I cried, and thought you were dead, and Mr. Land man person said that you had cancer, only you were little then. And and I was afraid you would die again even after brother said you didn't die-"
"Katey.... Calm down." Said Arron softly.
"Sorry..." Said Katey looking at her feet.

[Lumina]

Kay could only laugh lightly at the little girl, "It's okay, I get it a lot when I work at the orphanage." She explained softly. Sitting up she let her head fall back on the pillow, she hadn't felt this tired in years.

"Yeah, I had cancer when I was little, it comes and goes but I haven't died of it obviously. I'm Kay, as I guess you already know."
