"Okay it looks like she's epileptic which means she's prone to having seizures. How long has it been going on for?" Tammy asked checking the childs heart rate and also looking for any types of wounds.

"The mother says it's been going on for the past four weeks. Don't ask me why she didn't bring her in sooner because I really don't know." Shayne agreed that she was epileptic, but he wasn't sure what triggered the seizures, and he wasn't about to try without having a baby specialist there.

Tammy frowned, "Her muscles are so tense...if she moves the wrong way or has a certain kind of fit her muscles can contract and throw her into a seizure. It's hard for infants and toddlers because they don't know how to cope with it." Tammy looked sad suddenly, "She needs some rest, she's not so tense now."

Shayne nodded. "Thank you so much... I really wasn't sure, and needed someone a little more... skilled, to help me." He smiled that charming smile of his, and waited for her to finish what she was doing.

"Well I have epilepsy and I know a lot about it. Certain types and cases that cause this stuff to happen. Ask the mother a few questions for me. First off I need to know what her daughter is around most. Second I need to know when and where it happens the most." Tammy said.

Shayne nodded, and walked out to do as she said. He may have been 'superior' as far as letters behind the names went, but he by no means saw that as implying he knew everything about health... just more than the patients normally. And he especially didn't see himself as 'better' or 'smarter' than Tammy... he actually felt he knew nothing next to her.

Tammy kept examining the baby, feeling if her muscles were still tense or not. So far she seemed fine and just seemed to be asleep.

Wesley came back a few minutes later. "She said her daughter is mostly in the crib... and that's when it happens. They have a blinking night light... they wanted something to lull her to sleep apparently."

"Can you tell her mother that it's best to take it out and find some other means...she needs to take the baby to her regular doctor and have some tests run to see what she can be around." Tammy said.

Shayne nodded, and walked out. A few minutes later, he came back... with the mother. "She insisted on speaking only to you. I feel there's a bit of sexism going on in this hospital." He cut his eyes jokingly at Tammy, before stepping back to let the mother speak.

"Ma'am... what have I done wrong?" The poor woman was in tears.

"Apparently she has epilepsy. Anything can trigger a seizure and I'm supposing that it might be the bright lights since that seems to be where it happens the most. I suggest taking her to her normal doctor and having some tests run to see what she can and can't be around. Her muscles are relaxed now so you can take her home." Tammy said with a smile.

The woman, nodded, and dried her tears. She took her baby, and held her close as she walked out the door with a sad "Thank you."

When she left, Shayne walked over, and wrapped Tammy in a hug. "Thank you so much."

Tammy smiled, "Well...when I was that small I was diagnosed with epilepsy...I still have it really bad." She rubbed her hands together nervously.

Shayne kissed her softly on the lips, and looked at her with concern. "What triggers it?"

"My emotions...mostly anger so that's why I almost never get angry...or I try not to anyway." Tammy said with a smile as she kissed him back.

"Oh... I see, well... I'll try to stay on your good side then! I don't want to see you hurt." He kissed her a second tome, and drew her close to him.

Shayne sighed. Every time it seemed they were about to have a romantic moment, it was ended in a flash. He smiled though despite that. I love her, I can still feel her kiss.... I guess that's all that matters. He then waited for the nurses to bring in yet another emergent case.

Tammy hurried to get back to work, not only was sure working on taking care of infants, she was also studying to be the new maternity doctor. She couldn't believe she was so close to getting there.

Shayne woke up to the shrill beeping from his alarm clock that should have been screaming: "ANNOYANCE!!! ANNOYANCE!!! ANNOYANCE!!! ANNO-" He pounded the OFF button, and groaned at his aching muscles. He peered at the clock, and wished he could throw it out the window. 3:30am? You have GOT to be kidding me! He swung his legs around, forcing himself in a sitting position with his legs hanging off the side of the bed. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes, and got up yawning. He stumbled to the kitchen and fumbled with the coffee for a few minutes before it finally got to brewing. He then began the grueling task of getting ready for work. He reached for his electric razor to find it was dead. Apparently he forgot to plug the charger in after he had used the plug for his phone. He sighed, and scowered the bathroom for any disposable razors. Nope, none. He sighed, and eyed the mirror. It was a 5 O'clock shadow, and really didn't look that bad on him, only he was used to not having a beard. Oh well... I guess I'll have to deal. He picked up his toothbrush, and thankfully the dinky thing actually decided to work. He rinsed his mouth, and got dressed. By the time his coffee was finished, it was 3:53... almost time to go. He got his coffee mug, fixed his coffee, grabbed his keys and wallet and headed out the door to start his twelve hour day.

Tammy was up long before watching TV before getting ready to go to work, she was already on her way there while he was shaving.

Shayne arrived at work around 4:15, and immediately went to refill his coffee cup in the cafeteria before letting the nurses see him. If they saw him, they would immediately begin to drown him in patients.

Tammy ran in and hugged him as soon as she saw him, "GUESS WHAT!" She screamed with too much excitement.

Shayne stared at her bleary-eyed for a moment, and hugged her back. He was extremely tired because his neighbors had decided to have a midnight dance party in the middle of the week. "What?"

"I'm the new maternity doctor!" She exclaimed, still looking pretty happy, she was glad that lady was finally given the boot.
