Kirah looked around, and laughed to herself. The house had Jamie written all over it. After exploring a bit, she went back to the living room, and sprawled out on the floor. She was so tempted to sleep right then.

Then there was a groan and a slapping kind of sound, "Cruuuuud..." Robert said in a long groan, "I cannot rest right now there is just...too much to do." He got up and walked into the kitchen, apparently things had piled up in there due to Jamie being sick.

Kirah sighed softly. Why, why do I have to be so nice? She got up, and followed him in the kitchen. When she caught up with him, she took his hand and led him to his room, where she firmly told him to go to bed. Then, she got to work cleaning the kitchen, and anything else that needed to be done.

Robert woke up the next morning feeling like he was having a huge hangover. Though he'd never really been drunk in his life. He sat up and looked around the room. Immediately his mind screamed: "WHERE IS JAMIE?!" but suddenly he was reminded...he sighed shakily and got out of bed walking to the living room and trying to remember what had happened exactly.

Kirah was crashed on the couch, a drool spot on the couch, and the kitchen was spotless... she left no dustbunny untrashed... she seemed pretty worn out too. She groaned in her sleep, and rolled over... off the couch. She hit the floor with a thud, but didn't seem to mind. She pulled her jacket tighter, and curled up a little more.

Robert picked her up gently off the floor and laid her on the couch before moving into the kitchen to make some bacon and eggs. It was always one of Jamie's favorites. At this point he was literally forcing himself not to cry.

Once the smell of bacon reached her nose, Kirah's eyes opened slowly. As soon as her mind registered her as awake, it decided it was it's job to inform her of what happened the day before. She let out a pained groan at the memory, and stood up, walking into the kitchen. She had taken her shirt off, leaving her cami on... thus providing her with a tank-top. "Hey Robert... you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm just feeling a little tired...you?" He asked as he flipped a piece of bacon. The smell was enough to make his mouth water, and the eggs looked good too.

"I feel like I've been hit with a semi and run over by a steam roller... but I guess we all have those days." She glanced at the bacon, and sighed in contentment. "That looks so good..."

"I feel like I'm having a hangover. My head is throbbing like you wouldn't believe...and yeah, want some?" Robert pulled out two plates and a couple forks. "Do you like toast?"

Kirah raised an eyebrow. "Hangover? Yeah, I like toast! I'll fix it!" She ran to the pantry, and scavenged for bread before finally locating it, and dropped two pieces in the toaster.

"You know, like when you get drunk and sleep it off? I don't drink but my head is hurting pretty bad right now...so it kinda feels like I'm having a hangover. The only way I know this is because I used to drink when I was a teenager before I got saved, I quit it cold turkey after that." Robert explained.

"Oh, I see! I've never drank... was too poor too!" She laughed, seeing the humor in it. "Maybe you're just hungry... we didn't eat all day after..." Her voice trailed off, and she decided not to finish the sentence... it was easier that way.

"Yeah that's my guess too. I don't drink anymore, no matter how cruddy I feel." Robert set the plates on the table and pulled out a chair for Kirah before sitting down himself.

Kirah snatched up the toast, set a piece on his plate, and kept the other for herself. She sat down, and waited patiently for Robert to say the blessing... she had gotten saved a few months back.

Robert prayed a caring prayer over their meal and also prayed that He'd heal their hearts from all the pain they felt from yesterdays tragedy. Then he said amen and looked at her.

"We're going to get through this, we just can't let it drag us down." He said.

Kirah nodded. "Somehow... I find it easy to believe you." She smiled kindly, knowing that the healing would be much harder on him than it would be on her.

"I'm not going to let this kill me, I can move on after grieving and live life to the fullest, that's what Jamie wants!" Robert said, but at the mention of her name tears welled up in his eyes.

Kirah set her fork down, and moved over to him. She wrapped him in a gentle hug, and nodded. "You're right.. that is what she wanted! She loved you too much to want you to grieve over her like this... the heart does go on... if you want it to."

"I want it to...I really do. I just miss her so much." Robert held her as well, it was a comforting embrace and he could almost feel a warmth, a very comforting warmth.

"That's okay... I miss her too. We were supposed to go and get Mike's birthday present today... you know, from insurance? Actually, I should have left about now to meet her." She tried to hug him as a friend, and only as a friend. She didn't know if she was, or wasn't though... and that made her uncomfortable, so she pulled away.

"Oh...okay. Be careful." Robert finished eating and went to get changed for work, he was going to try and stay calm and collected while being there.

-A year later-

Kirah ran screaming to Robert. "I figured out!!!!!!!!" She was so bouncy, and was jumping up and down so much, that if she didn't stop she might fall apart! She was all bubbly, and smiling... she looked really beautiful at that moment. "I figured it out!!"

Robert looked at her in shock as he put down his current project, "Figured what out, Kirah?" He asked with a weary smile, he'd been very busy trying to find the cure to what Jamie had died of recently, catching back up on it so no one else would suffer the same fate.

"What was making your computer blue screen! It was a screensaver!!! Microsoft made one... it's weird... anyway, I took it off, and it fixed it! Seems like someone was playing a prank on you!" She giggled, knowing it really was the perfect prank... also the most annoying, she spent a whole year trying to figure it out.
